--- title: "Editorial Pillars" subtitle: "The 5 content pillars that guide our editorial content" description: "The five pillars every piece of BlackDoctor content is measured against: transformational, must-have, culture-first, authentic and BlackDoctor personified." author: "Studio" section: "Brand Book" subsection: "02 Verbal Identity" order: 2 status: "published" --- ## Our Editorial Pillars These five pillars are our compass. They remind us who we’re speaking to, why it matters, and how to show up with purpose every time. ### Transformational We believe that information should shift something. A mindset, a habit, a health outcome, a behaviour reset. Our content always leaves our audience with something new to think about or try. We tell joyful Black health stories that redefine what’s possible for our community. To us, transformation is the goal. ### Must have, can’t do without Our audience comes to us for things they can’t afford to miss — the must-knows, the how-tos, the things their doctors didn’t say. Every article, video, or reel must offer something useful, usable, and worth saving or sharing. ### Culture-first We are shaped by our culture, so we speak from it. Our content reflects a deep understanding of how culture, identity, and shared experience shape Black health. From food and faith to family, we are connected by our experiences. We connect health to the things our audience lives for and cares about. ### Authentic and passionate We build content through conversation. We listen to our audience, in comments, email inboxes, the streets, and we respond with care. What matters to them matters to us. This ensures our content feels lived in and not copy-pasted. ### BlackDoctor Personified Our content *is* the brand. Every piece should embody who the BlackDoctor is as an authority figure: trusted, empowering, culturally fluent, and unafraid to show care. We bring expert knowledge with real-world empathy. Just like that doctor you trust most.
