--- title: "Who We Are" subtitle: "The name, the structure, and what we stand for" description: "BlackDoctor's name and brand structure, the mission, vision and purpose behind it, the six values that guide us, and why we exist." author: "Studio" section: "Brand Book" subsection: "01 Brand" order: 2 status: "published" --- ## Our Brand Name Our name reinforces the idea of BlackDoctor as a trusted guide to every black family and not just a media platform. BlackDoctor’s name is to echo strength in presence. It’s a credible voice. A figurative leader in the community. ## Our Brand Structure BlackDoctor follows a branded house model. That means every product, service lives as a sub-brand under one unified name powered by the credibility of: BlackDoctor. This approach keeps our identity strong, recognisable, and easy to trust across everything we offer. Current and emerging identities within the BlackDoctor ecosystem: - **BlackDoctor Inc.** (corporate parent) - **BlackDoctor** (media platform) - **BlackDoctor Pro** (B2B healthcare professional-facing product) - **BlackDoctor Foundation** (non-profit arm) - **Daily Vitamina** (lifestyle and wellness vertical for Afro-Latinas) ## Our Mission **To make every Black family thrive in health by bridging the trust gap between Black communities and the healthcare system.** But we know for us health isn’t just about treatment; it’s about trust, culture, access, and representation. It’s also about the everyday decisions we make. We treat wellness as a full lifestyle rather than a checklist. Our mission is to make health feel possible, personal, and powerful for every Black family. We do this by translating care into culture, putting Black stories and voices at the center of wellness, and creating educational tools, content, and thriving communities that drive lasting impact. ## Our Vision **To become the global leaders in Black health and wellness** Our vision is bold but necessary. We imagine a future where Black health is no longer marginalized, misdiagnosed, or misunderstood. A future where culturally aligned care is the norm, not the exception. It’s a world where Black health isn’t a fight, it’s a right. Where Black people are empowered to take control of their health journeys with confidence. Where media, medicine, and community work in harmony to support holistic wellness. And where BlackDoctor stands as the go-to destination for trusted, culturally-grounded health and wellness content across the world. ## Our Brand Purpose In the Black community, two of the most trusted figures have always been the preacher and the doctor. That deep cultural insight inspired the name *BlackDoctor* - a name rooted in trust, care, and guidance. From the beginning, BlackDoctor has existed to counter harmful health narratives and close the information gap. For too long, our communities have been targeted with misinformation, left out of the conversation, or given care that wasn’t made for us. BlackDoctor was created to change that. Our goal? Behaviour change through culturally aligned content. We meet our community where they are, with the information they need, delivered in ways they can trust and understand. ## Our Brand Values **What guides us** These are more than words on a wall. They shape how we show up, how we make decisions, and how we earn trust. - **Trust**: Everything starts here. We say what we mean and deliver what we promise. - **Authenticity**: We keep it real. Our content, our people, our presence. It’s all grounded in truth. - **Accessibility**: Health should be understandable, available, and relatable to everyone. - **Empowerment:** We’re here to help our audience take control, not just take notes. - **Representation:** We center Black voices, visuals, and realities in everything we do. - **Integrity:** No shortcuts. We build relationships and content with respect, ethics, and care. ## Why We Exist **Our ‘why’ is rooted in reality.** For too long, mainstream health media has portrayed us as unhealthy, uneducated, or invisible. We exist to flip that narrative. We show the other side. The truth. The beauty of the journey in progress. That Black people are educated, self-aware, aspirational, spiritual, grounded, and powerful. We are shaping culture, saving lives and we deserve a platform that reflects that. So we don’t just inform — we inspire. We don’t just create content — we shape perception. We don’t just translate medical advice — we bring it home, with language and visuals that feel like us.
